1943 – Sander joined his brother Mark Gjon Marku in the fight against communism in Mirdite.

1946 – After the death of Mark he took over the lead in the fight followed by a loyal army of nationalists.

1947 – Surrounded and ambushed by enemy forces and after putting up a valiant effort he was killed in Mungje.
