Bianca Maria Gjomarkaj

Bianca Maria was born in Rome, Italy. She is the second daughter of Kapidan Ndue Gjon Marku.

She completed her formal education in Italy and New York City. Bianca travelled extensively over the years with her husband Vincent, now retired from the U.S. Navy. She was a successful business owner in Virginia Beach where she opened an Antiques Gallery and ran it successfully until 2012, when her and her husband  decided to move to Shkoder, Albania to live in Bianca’s family home and be near her uncle Dede, aunt Bardha and cousin Kristina.

Unfortunately, after four months of her arrival her beloved aunt Bardha died, in March 2013, followed two years later by her uncle Dede. Through all the losses and difficulties she faced and still faces regarding property restitution, Bianca is determined to remain in Albania and see that justice is done.

This desire stems from her love and devotion to her family history, instilled in her by her father, Ndue. Living in the family home in Shkoder and having come to know her ancestral land in Mirdita, Bianca has gained a deeper respect and admiration for the hardships of her ancestors and respect for those family members who were left behind and endured the cruelty and terror lived under communism for 45 years.

With her husband and immediate family nearby, she knows she has the support she needs to continue all the legal battles she has been battling for the last 5 years.

Bianca is the family historian. She has been instrumental in creating a social media presence for the the family and through her created website and FB page she has managed to present a timeline of the history of each member of the family, as well as continuously publicizing various important historical facts and documents.

She is now working on cataloging many documents related to the political party Bloku Kombetar Independent, which was founded by her grandfather Kapidan Gjon Markagjoni and father Kapidan Ndue Gjomarkaj, in Rome in 1946.
